Jan 5 - Before the FCS Championship - SHSU vs NDSU

Saturday morning of the game I woke up with no voice.. well I had just a little but basically nothing.. really game day!  I couldn't believe it.. We got up early and went to Ihop to eat and then it was on to the stadium.  They had lots of things going on before the game.  We got there and got all bundled up because it was COLD!  Then it was on to the events.  Just like last year they had games set up and drills set up which Zach loved.  He went through all of them a couple of times.  We also got to welcome the players into the stadium and afterwards there was a pep rally.. then it was on to the stadium!

SHSU vs SFA - Battle of the Piney Woods

Last weekend was the annual Battle of the Piney Woods at Reliant Stadium.  For the past three years that is where SHSU and SFA meet to do battle.  We decided we wanted to tailgate so we got there early and had a great time eating fajitas.  Ended up we had a couple park next to us that went to school at the same time I went and in fact the guy was in my major and the wife was in advertising which also was in my building.  We didn't know each other but we recognized each other.  Zach enjoyed getting to play with their son who was a year older than him.

It was then time to go in and get the game started.  When we are at Reliant the band doesn't come in playing like they do at home but if we are the home team they will get to do their opening school song etc march.  Because they consider Reliant a neutral location we switch off being the home team.  This year was our year to be home team.

The game was really good.. with SFA you never know how they are going to play and with us beating them pretty bad last year they could come and get revenge...

Oh a sign caught my eye... so proud of those Texans!!

We had a great time at the game and it was a great game that we won!!  Always good to beat SFA!!

Eat'em Up Kats!!

The first game of the year was last week against Incarnate Word which is out of San Antonio.  It was great to start football again!  This year we decided to tailgate before the game and that turned out to be a great idea.  We did Kobasas for the first time out, they were great.  We called Brenden and told him to come get some food and he did and brought his friend with him which Zach enjoyed because he played with him while they were there.

Our SWEET new signs!

Brenden left so he could get ready for the game early so he could get ready for the game.  An hour before the game starts the band marchs our for the mini pep-rally with the cheerleaders.

Notice Brenden's orange glasses.. those would be his brother's.. he put them on when he was with us and forgot he had them on his head when he left so we had to trade them out before he walked in the stadium.

When they come in the stadium they march around playing the fight song.

FCS Championship!!! Go Bearkats! Friday

This past weekend we made the road trip to Frisco or as many were calling it Frizco after our great coach Willie Friz.  Our bearkats were in the Championships!!!  I took off early and we got Zach out of school early so we could get up there for Alumni Pep-Rally that night where Brenden would be playing with the band and the cheerleaders would also be there.  All the way up there we saw fellow Sam cars would wave and show their paws and we did too.  We had gotten car flags to show our support.  We got to Frisco about 4 and when we got to the hotel Tim said there is the university police..Luanne you got the hotel with the football players.  What luck was that!!  We walked in and they the NCAA table and other stuff welcoming bearkats.  Zach was on cloud nine as players walked by us.  A couple even smiled and waved at him.  He was so cute getting excited!  We hung out at the hotel for a little bit and Tim and Zach went down by the golf course and played a little bit of football.  We decided we would get something to eat before going to the Pep-Rally so we found a nice little Italian place that was really good!  Then it was off to Hotel NYLO for the Alumni event.  It was nice they had a cash bar and a DJ playing music.  There was a nice crowd.  The band and cheerleaders got there and started the Pep-Rally up playing a bunch of the stand songs and cheers they do during the game.  It was a great time.  We saw Brenden when he came in but didn't see him after.  After they left we decided to go back to the hotel so we could get some rest for the next day.
