Jazz Regional

This past Saturday Zach and I went to see Brenden perform in the Jazz Regional concert.  This was the first time that he competed in the Jazz contest.  He made it past Area, then regional and came in 22nd in the State which is really great!  We are really proud of him!  But this concert was for anyone that were tope in the region. 

The Sam Houston Jazz professor was the director for the kids.  Which was really great for Brenden!

We were even treated to Brenden playing the flute.  I haven't seen or heard this before so it was a treat and he did really well.

They had a special guest come in from LA to play with them and boy this man could play the sax we were all very impressed with him.

After they were done with their performance they had two other jazz bands from Lone Star College, Brenden wanted to stay and listen to them so Zach and I stayed and boy we were glad we did it was very entertaining.  They played with the special guest also and it was very entertaining.

We are so proud of you Brenden!

Regionals 2010

We went to our final Regionals Concert last night for Brenden.  This became an annual concert as Brenden has made Regionals every year he was in High School.  That is not a easy feat as he competes against many 4A schools around the Houston area.

Regionals

I can't believe I'm just now getting these on here!  Brenden and Willis had Regionals last Tuesday (19th).  I thought they did pretty good.  There were a few spots that the band would probably like to forget but hey you can't always go out there and knock their socks off...hard to say that and I wish for Brenden's sake they would have done a little better.  But I'm still very proud of him and them for a good job.  I love going to this contest because no only do I get to watch them but I usually stick around to see Spring.  Well this year Spring got moved later on in the contest but Tim told me to stay so I could see them.. I ended up calling Aunt Deb and she came and watched them and the others with me.. What was also great about the contest was one of the judges was the one and only Bill Watson.. (for any of my old colorguard/band friends out there you know who this is!) he was my band director when I was in High School (I didn't do band I was in Colorguard.. make sure to check this out!)  Anyways it was great to see him and our other director Ms. Burton!  I loved watching all the bands.. it always makes me wish I was out there twirling my flag!
